Slow isn’t sexy, but it works

Do you believe there’s a difference between consuming information and learning?  (I’ll tell you what I believe later) I signed up for a webinar the other day at 11:30 am. Within 8 hours I had received *13* emails. 7 of them were countdown reminders that were sent within 30 minutes of each other.   In my head I thought – how useful is this information going to be if they have to beat me over the head to show up? Knowing that most network marketers don’t work the “value first, sale later” theory, this is going to be a huge sales push. I made a decision somewhere around email #8. I never showed up to the webinar. Instead, I poked around on Instagram. As much as I love this guy, I can only take him in small spurts.  (You’ll understand soon) Anyway, he has this 60 Second Club thing happening that …

Selling Your Home-Based Business on Social Media

I’ve talked to A LOT of network marketers over the past decade and believe me when I say that every single one of them ask themselves the same question. Even when you see people signing up like crazy under them and they’re ranking faster than you thought possible, I guarantee I can give them a tip or two on how to make it even better. Go ahead and watch my video first so you can understand what you have to stop doing if you want to start making more money in your home-based business. There’s 2 things about selling that you have to understand especially if you’re going to do this on social media. People don’t go on Facebook to buy things. Think about your own social media accounts.  Did you sign up for Twitter or …

Website Spring Cleaning Challenge

We cull our closets. We paint the walls. We get rid of the old to make way for the new. But what are you doing for your website? If you’re like most people, probably not much. It’s the set it and forget it mentality. I’m challenging you to spend some time next month to go through the #sitespringcleanchallenge. Here’s the 10 things I do at least once a year. Ideally, you’ll do all 10. If that seems insane, pick 5. 1.  BROKEN LINKS.  You can use something like Broken Link Check to see which links are broken on your site.  Take the time to go through each one.  I’ve found links to products I no longer sell, links to defunct websites, and once a typo in a link I had used in a blog post . 2.  CREATE MORE LINKS.  When people are on your site, you want to bounce them around …

What They Don’t Tell You About Personal Branding

Personal Branding seems to be the new buzz word in internet marketing. With good reason – do it right; do it well and that shit works. So called gurus talk about the reasons it’s so important and how to claim your piece of the promise land. But what about the things they don’t talk about? I have friends that would run screaming if I ever told them they had to put their mug front and center of their business and website.  I’ve watched people get it wrong from day 1.  I work with network marketers who struggle to understand “personal” in the realm of what they’re programmed to do in MLM.  I’ve also seen businesses go soft on their clients because they don’t want to lose the income by telling them to scrap it and start again. You can google how to build a personal brand, but most of what …

16 Awesome, Easy Ways To Repurpose Content & Drive Traffic

The last couple of months have been crazy around here.  (side note: you’ll be happy to know that I’m sticking around as the digital dynamo with that client and still pushing forward with all the greatness I have planned here).  The kiddo is back in school, I’m hitting the internet harder than ever and to be honest, most days I’m ready for bed around 9pm. It got me thinking – there has to be a better way to continue building my business and brand without continuing to burn out.  ‘Cuz really – my trainer, judo sensei and jits professor are almost ready to call in the hounds to find me. Productivity and time management isn’t a problem – I get a shit load of stuff done every day.  It’s the same problem that every other person who fantasizes leaving their 9-5 for the self employment lifestyle.  I’m running huge companies …

The 3 Most Important Rules of Target Marketing

Once upon a time, I used to give Target Market seminars to local entrepreneurs.  Every seminar started the same way – people thought they knew what they were doing and this was going to be 2 of the most boring hours of their life.  Every seminar ended the same way – people coming up to me afterwards telling me that I actually made figuring this shit out fun.  One gent exclaimed that he couldn’t believe that he didn’t know this before. This isn’t going to be a brain dump of my 2 hour sessions, but it’s the 3 cardinal rules that you have to know if you’re going to get started in the right direction.  And my dear, most of you are NOT doing this right at all. RULE #1: Your Target Market Isn’t Everyone With 2 Feet and a Heartbeat My opening line in every seminar is a …

My Income Just Dropped 95% (and I’m kinda thrilled)

This isn’t my typical post .. I’m usually offering you some help and insight into your business – this time, I need you so please be sure to read to the bottom. Have you noticed that I’ve been MIA for the past month?  I’ve got some behind-the-scenes sneak peeks as to why. For the past 7 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing clients.  My dance card has almost always been full which meant that I’ve always relied on my clients business doing well in order to earn a profit. A few years back, after taking a gig with a growing business, I decided to close my doors to new clients and put all the products I wanted to create for you on the back burner.  Then this year, you saw me pick up momentum – building a new site, creating some new free content, and pushing out a few products …

Maximize Your Thank You Page

This is such an easy thing to do, I don’t understand why more people don’t take advantage of the opportunity.  I hate leaving money on the table so optimizing my thank you pages is an incredibly important step no matter what I’m offering my readers. There’s 3 things that should happen on every single thank you page.  Every.  Single.  One.  Confirmation:  you want to confirm whatever transaction just took place.  Thank them for their purchase, thank them for taking the survey, thank them for subscribing. Measuring Conversions:  whether it’s a Facebook ad or your Google Analytics, your thank you page can be used as a measure of a conversion.  When I set up a lead ad in Facebook and optimize it for conversions, the way Facebook knows that it was successful is if that person reaches the thank you page.  The same is true in Google Analytics. Makes Another Offer: …
