Virtual Assistant? You’re Just Not Ready.

Virtual Assistant.  It seems like everyone wants to be one because it makes their biz life super easy. I went into a little bit of a rant when it comes to determining if you’re a good fit to become a virtual assistant.  Try to really hear the advice even if you have a difference stance on the subject. It’s not just a list of things that you need to get started.  I’m also explaining the difference between being a VA and freelance work. This can be an easy business to start, but you might not be cut out for it. And that’s OK.  I’m all for cheer leading, but I’m not going to do it for the sake of doing it. You’ll want to watch this video if you’ve tossed around the idea of becoming a VA.  I touch on my thoughts, tips and advice on the 3 things you’re going …

What Martial Arts Taught Me About Life And Business

I was never really active .. never went to the gym, didn’t play sports, but just under a year ago, I was pushing 41 wanted to make a change.  As a single mom, one of my worst fears is something happening to me leaving no one to raise my kiddo. I started working with a trainer and took up judo alongside of my son.  I loved it so much, I walked into a jiu jitsu club and signed up there too.  See, when I get something into my head, I kind of tear through it like wildfire. I wanted to get (and stay) healthy but it turned into so much more. Almost every week, I stumble home with a new bruise, a broken toe or a pulled muscle.  Sometimes people stare at the bruises on my face, arms or legs.  Sometimes the people around me ask me why I bother. The …

How To Get Your First 1,000 Subscribers

You’re trying to build a business.  You’re trying to grow your email list.  No one knows who the hell you are and you have absolutely no track record. You’re probably going crazy creating new content and you likely feel like you’re working for free. Maybe you’re pitching guest posts or making comments on other blogs hoping to get some traffic and eye balls on your site. Or, maybe you just sit staring at your computer hoping for some kind of inspiration because you literally have no idea where to begin. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen and heard the same advice – ask your friends and family to share.  Bullshit.  Folks, your friends and family are there to cheer you on.  Chances are, they don’t give a lick about what you have to say.  And even if they did, I’d bet dollars to donuts that they are …

This 1 Move Will Increase Your Success And Profit

BUT ALL THE GOOD IDEAS ARE TAKEN! That’s what I hear most often when people come to me wanting to start a business, but don’t know where to start.  Let’s nip this in the bud:  you don’t have to create something brand spanking new to be successful.  You just need something .. better. Before we dig into the how-to, let’s talk about the WHY. People have an adverse reaction to building a business that is targeted to a smaller audience. They think that they’ll have a better chance of success if they start with a massive audience They think that they’ll be trampled by the big guys when they realize what they’re doing They think that they’ll miss someone who is in desperate need of their information or product The reality is that when you specialize or find a specific niche, you’re chances of success increase and so does your …

How To REALLY Succeed in Network Marketing

I want to tell you about the #1 mistake that Direct Sellers and Network Marketers are making in their business – and it’s costing them a ton of their time and thousands (if not more!) in unearned income. A few weeks ago, I met a friend to go over her new MLM business because she really wanted to hit this thing out of the ballpark and she wanted it to happen now.  We discussed a few things that I tell everyone I meet with:  you need a website, you need a mailing list, you need a Facebook Page, not a group, and here’s the quickest way to get all of them up and running. Then we dug into the #1 mistake that I see so many of these business people making.  Her intention was to create a page and business around the company she was involved with.  Big mistake. When …

How I made it big .. and not just in business

I was pregnant with my son and working in a customs brokerage.  I loved the job and had every intention of returning.  In fact, while I was on maternity leave, I continued taking classes that would prepare me for bigger and better things when I returned.  Along the way, plans changed. We lived out in the county and shared one car while working different shifts.  That meant that we’d need to put our soon-to-be child into daycare and buy a second car.  That eats a lot of your take home pay cheque.  When I decided to quit my job and stay home with my son, I figured if I could earn a few hundred bucks a month on top of what my husband was making as a truck driver, we’d be home free. I found a job through the now defunct The Virtual Professionals that gave me my first glimpse at …

Creating Perceived Value and Reality

Did you know that you can alter the reality of your buyers? It’s not magic. It’s not some creepy internet marketing method. Unless, of course, you’re a creepy internet marketer kinda guy (or gal) then there’s just no hope for you. So let’s say that you have this fabulous new PDF manual that you want to start selling. On top of everything you need to get in line to launch the book, you also have to think about the experience your customers are going to have when they buy the book. I know what you’re thinking – this isn’t the Ritz freaking Carlton. There’s no experience. It’s a book. {insert dramatic music} Have a seat – we’re going to talk perception. The first time I really started thinking about perception was when I started learning about energy healing and how it helps removes blockages surrounding all sorts of trauma.  {SNORT!}  I …

Death by Twitter: 10 Strategies to Live By

When I started my business over a year ago, I built it on Twitter. I’ve yet to spend more than $40 on advertising (and that $40 was for business cards that did diddly squat) and my practice is booming. When the company was in its infancy, I spent a lot of time different tactics for Twitter – especially since that was my first exposure to the micro-blog platform. The one thing I didn’t try – because quite honestly, I didn’t even consider it a strategy – was to follow a top-rated internet marketer. Seriously. Late last night, I tracked down Jeff Walker’s twitter account and followed him. I was (and still am) being flooded with new Twitter followers. In the short time it’s taken me to write the first paragraph and a half of this post, I’ve added another 17 Twitter followers to my account. I’m going to have to …
